One important key to long-term pet health is regular vaccinations against a number of diseases that can affect your dog's well being.
Listed below are the vaccinations available and the protocols recommended:
This vaccination is for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvo.
We recommend that this vaccination be started at 8 weeks of age followed by two boosters given 3-4 weeks apart.
If a pet is 12 weeks or older, the pet would get an initial vaccination followed by one booster in 3-4 weeks. After the initial set of boosters, the vaccination should be boostered in one year and every three years thereafter.
Kern County law requires vaccination against Rabies. Check with your county as laws may differ.
We recommend that this vaccination be given to the pet at 16 weeks of age. After the initial vaccination, booster in one year and every three years thereafter.
Kennel Cough I/N:
A nasal vaccination to help prevent "Kennel Cough." It is usually effective within 24 hours.
We recommend that this vaccination be started at 8 weeks of age. After the initial vaccination, booster every 6 months to 1 years depending on the pets' exposure. Check with your veternarian.
A rattlesnake bite is a veterinary emergency that results in serious injury or even death to your dog. You should still consider this to be a veterinary emergency if your dog has been vaccinated and has been bitten. This vaccination defends your dog by creating an immunity that works to help neutralize the toxins until treatment is given.
We recommend that this vaccination be started when the pet is a least 4 months old. After the initial vaccination, one additional booster is required 4 weeks later. Pets weighing under 25 lbs. or over 100 lbs. will benefit from a third booster in the initial sequence. Protection from vaccine is most effective six months following vaccination. Schedule boosteres every 6 months to 1 year depending on your pet's exposure.
Only applicable should your dog live or travel in a tick infected area.
We recommend that this vaccination be started at 12 weeks of age. After the initial vaccination, booster in 4 weeks and annually thereafter.
