The hospital has been part of the community for more than 30 years! Originally located in a small rental building on South Street, the hospital provided veterinary care for dogs, cats, horses and livestock with a few trucks and a staff of six. Since then our practice has grown with the community; it now has two facilities that together have more than 10,000 square feet of space dedicated to the health care, boarding, and grooming of your pets.  The staff now has three full-time doctors, led by Drs. Steve Anderson and Frank Komin, with a support staff of more than 60 people, all dedicated to providing the best possible care to the canine and feline members of your family.

To support these treatments, the hospital has a complete pharmacy, an in-house diagnostic laboratory, a state-of-the-art surgical suite, a dental treatment and surgical suite, and complete diagnostic capabilities including digital X-rays, dental X-rays, endoscopy, tonometry, and ultrasonography.

Everyone at Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital understands the special bond we develop with our pets, the bond that makes them such vital members of our families.  We also value the trust you have placed in us by choosing us a partner in the medical care of your pets.  For more than 30 years we have never taken that trust lightly, and it is our promise that we never will.

From well-puppy and well-kitten care and early disease screening and prevention to treating advanced disease processes to performing complicated surgical or dental procedures, the staff is trained and the hospital equipped to deal with virtually any health issue.  For those cases that may require a specialist, the doctors work closely with many referral veterinarians and hospitals.  We also offer behavioral and geriatric counseling and even some alternative treatments, including homeopathy and accupuncture.
The hospital and its staff provides highest-quality medical care for pets in a compassionate, comfortable, and caring setting.  The hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association, a voluntary association that promotes the highest standards of veterinary medical care, and our doctors are members of the American, Californian, and Kern County Veterinary Medical Associations.
In order to make your visit as smooth as possible, you can fill out most of the paperwork needed for office calls, surgical procedures, drop-offs, dental procedures, etc. at home prior to arriving at our hospital.  You can even order medication on line, or contact us regarding concerns, questions, or ideas how we can improve our service to you and your pets.
